Take on Monday Like It's Friday

It’s Sunday night and after a long and eventful weekend, the last thing you want to do is go to bed and wake up to another week! Whether you had an awesome time at your best friend’s birthday or just returned from a week long vacation in the Caribbean, it’s safe to say that many people do not like Monday’s. As much as we would love to lounge around sipping cocktails by the pool, for us #WORKIT bosses, productivity is inevitable and our clients need support! Rather than dreading the “Monday Blues,” here are some tips to start the week off on a productive note.

1. GET A GOOD NIGHT’S REST

We all know how busy our schedules can be on the daily filled with meetings, content creation, constant emails and getting that last minute request on our phone. That’s why it is so important to make sure you are performing at your best – which is where sleep comes in! Now let’s be realistic, we all know how hard it is to get that doctor-suggested eight hours of sleep a night, but you would be surprised how well-rested you will feel if you go to bed before midnight. They say every hour before midnight is worth two after midnight - we’ve tested it and it works!

Now, we know it's not always possible to get to bed early with that last minute email from your client or that tight deadline, but we promise, getting that extra hour or two is magical. A great tool that the team at Work It Social uses is the soundspa. We are obsessed with them! Who wouldn’t want to fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean, a tropical rainforest, or our favourite: the lightning storm. You can buy one at your local drug store or for a cheaper option, just open up the app store and download one of the many there. We love Sleep Pillow Sounds and promise you will, too! So get that extra shot of melatonin, pump up the volume on the soundspa and get a good night’s rest to feel refreshed to take on the week.

2. GET ORGANIZED

Calendars, day planners and notifications have literally been lifesavers when it comes to daily routines. Not only do they help us plan our days, record our work progress and keep our clients up-to-date on accounts, they help keep everything organized on the daily. From appointments, to meetings, to call logs, these tools have been working their magic to make sure that we keep on task and that the work gets done. We don’t know where we would be without our fabulous Trello account or the iPhone calendar. Trello has a wide range of features including team tasks, appointment setting, due date creation and much more, we live on Trello on the daily and do not know what we would do without it.

3. GET SCHEDULING

When you have several accounts on-the-go, it is important to make sure that you are engaging consistently on behalf of each client. With so many social media handles, it is vital to make sure you are scheduling your posts to maximize user engagement and ensure you are exceeding those client expectations. We all know the feeling when Friday rolls around and all you want to do is get the weekend started. Rather than having to schedule all your posts first thing in the morning on Monday, take some extra time before before the weekend starts to schedule so you start the week off focusing on other tasks. You’ll thank us later!

4. GET INTO A ROUTINE

At Work It Social, we love routines. After all, we believe they are honestly the most important tool we have to get the week started at full speed! Whether it is scheduling your social media content on specific days, following up on emails as they come through or even setting goals to accomplish for the week, setting a routine will not only keep you on track, it will give you extra time to add even more productivity into your day. Rather than waking up early Monday morning to a calendar of scheduling, you can watch that extra episode of your favourite show on Netflix the night before or even get that extra hour of sleep you have been wanting all week. The possibilities are endless!

The “Monday Blues” don’t have to be something we dread, but instead, every week is another chance to bring out even more creativity. Your daily routine will not only help you individually, but it will also greatly benefit your whole team. So schedule that content on Friday’s, get that extra hour or two of sleep on Sunday’s, try out a new program to help you keep organized, and most importantly don’t forget to #WORKIT.
