Work It Wednesday: Shiela Labao

Hey there, #workit peeps! Welcome to our FIRST EVER #WorkItWednesday blog post!

Every Wednesday, we plan to feature outstanding influencers and entrepreneurs in the GTA who #workit on a daily basis. From bloggers to chefs, we feature them all.

Today, we're super excited to introduce to you: Shiela Labao from Small Girl, Medium City (as if you don't know her already!). We asked her the 411 on her life as a blogger and some witty questions - because why not.

1. What inspired you to choose the career you have? I sort of fell into real estate development by sheer serendipity, but my knowledge and love for this city as well as my lifestyle as a blogger just merged with it so perfectly. I'm grateful to have both.

2. What is something you’ve learned in the last year?

2016 was a year of many changes for me. Change is never easy but I learned that we are ever-evolving transient beings so having an optimistic outlook about it makes it much easier and definitely exciting!

3. Favourite book?

That's a tough one - I have so many! Far from the Madding Crowd -Thomas Hardy, Milk and Honey -Rupi Kaur, He's Just Not That Into You (lol).

4. Favourite song?

Another toughy, but I'm really into dreamy/pop - The Knocks, Phoebe Ryan, The Chainsmokers. Also, On Your Side by the The Veronicas have been on repeat this weekend.

5. Tell us about a typical day in the life of Shiela?

I'm an ultra morning person - usually wake up at 5:45 a.m. (except on days after a big night out) get some body weight exercises in, check my calendar and map out my day over coffee. Typically, I'm in the office shortly before 9:00 a.m. and hammer the work day out - and I try to squeeze in some writing or blog-related meetings in between. And then around 6:00 p.m., I head to whatever work out class I'm doing that month (this month it's barre at Barreworks - so far my favourite!). After that, the world is my oyster! On evenings, I don't attend events or go out with friends, I can be found at home making dinner/lounging. I'm big on spending time with myself - for someone as social as I am, it really keeps me balanced. I end the day catching up on group chats (we have so many)!

6. Go-to app?

7. How do you push yourself to #workit every day?

I'm a woman of many motivations. I prefer short-term goals over long-term and basically dot my day with little incentives to get me through it. I apply the same to basically everything in my life.

Thank you Shiela for giving us insight on how you #workit every day! We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you continue to do.
