Work It Wednesday - Kristian Borghesan

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Wednesday means #humpday but for our team at Work It Social, it truly signifies Work It Wednesday! Today, we have a great profile on Kristian Borghesan, Co-Founder and Marketing Director of Brüha.

We reached out to Kristian because we fell in love with the culture of Brüha and what they stand for. They connect with people on a personal level, bringing them together at various events to celebrate what's going on in their local community.

1. Tell us a little about yourself. What sparked the idea between you and your team for Brüha?

For myself, I'm a born and raised Hamiltonian with a passion rooted in entrepreneurship, marketing and simply connecting with people on a personal level. It's the nature of my personality and now it's what I get to do in my day-to-day: feed off of people, spark a conversation and get to know them. The idea for the company all started with trying to solve the problem or question of "What's happening in my local community?"

We knew then and still know now trying to discover and find out about relevant events can be challenging. There's still a huge void in the market with an opportunity to fill it. The question for ourselves then became, "how can we monetize this and make this a legitimate business?" The answer was building a DIY ticketing platform. We still have our work cut out for us, but we've definitely done a good job so far and have some pretty incredible things planned for the future. 2. What is something you’ve learned throughout the process of starting a business?

Wow, this one is a tough one to answer. There are so many valuable (and invaluable) lessons I've learned along the way. Really, too many to even count. I think when it comes down to it, the one that stands out the most would be learning how to manage expectations (my own, my teammates, partners and clients) and how to follow through with them. It's something ongoing and very situational, but it's such an important aspect of building a business - in every area of the business.

3. Any tips for the people out there trying to do the same?

Again, there are a bunch of tips I can share, but one sticking out to me the most right now would be this: If you really want something that badly, then go and make it happen. Don't rely on someone else to follow through with their promise and don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for favours (making sure you can return the value added of course). 4. Favourite go-to app?

Brüha, of course.. well, we actually have two apps, one for event discovery and one for event organizers to manage their events and scan tickets at the doors. Some may call me biased!

Full disclosure: we've actually been focusing all of our attention on our website, so if you're looking for things to do and events to go to in your local community, check out bruha.com! 5. Chocolate or vanilla?

Chocolate!

6. Coffee or tea?

Coffee, all day. I enjoy a good cup of tea every once and a while (and especially when I'm sick) but coffee is my fuel! 7. Favourite quote & why?

Again, this is a tough one because there are so many good quotes out there to keep people motivated, inspired and even level-headed. Although, one of my favourite ones would have to be "If you're the smartest person in the room, then you're in the wrong room." It is definitely something I pay attention to, especially as I try to surround myself with others who motivate and inspire me themselves. It's all about #LevelingUp!

8. How do you and your team members #workit every day?

So many different ways! We have such an incredible, young, talented and dynamic team. We all get along great (for the most part,) play off of one another's strengths, help each other grow where there are areas of improvement, and most of all we're always there and supportive for one another at any given moment. It's about succeeding and growing together as a team!

Thank you, Kristian! We loved chatting with you and we can't wait to see how much Brüha grows.
