Must Try Ice Cream in the GTA

There is nothing better in the summer than going on a walk and eating all the calories you just burnt with some delicious ice cream! If you live in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or are travelling to the city, here are some of our favourite ice cream joints you should stop at - and snag a cute Instagram pic at the same time!

If you live in Toronto, you have definitely heard of this HOT SPOT. Sweet Jesus is known for those Instagram-worthy, ice cream photos, covered in cotton candy or cookies! Just scrolling through their feed will make your mouth water. But they aren’t just an ice cream shop. They open up early and serve some delicious coffee, too. And oh Sweet Jesus, you must try the Cookies x3 & Cream … can we say Y-U-M?

East End - 780 Queen St. E.

Uptown - 103 Eglinton Ave. E.

If you have a sweet tooth for ice cream AND cookies, Bang Bang Ice Cream and Bakery will hit the spot. Customizable ice cream sandwich? Yes, please! With your choice of cookie and ice cream, you are able to make the perfect ice cream sandwich just for you. They also have a must-try twist on the typical waffle cone, made out of an actual waffle! If you want to try something a little different and absolutely delicious, add Bang Bang to the list.

93A Ossington Ave. Toronto

What’s better than ice cream? Ice cream served in a doughnut cone! Yes, you read that right, a nice and fluffy, coated in sugar doughnut cone. Are you drooling yet, because we are! Eva’s is a food truck that travels all over the GTA, popping up at different events and festivals to serve up amazing food, big smiles and full tummies. If you’re more of a planner, you can also hunt them down on their website where they post a schedule of where they’ll be next!

Upcoming Locations:

August 25-27 - CNE Food Truck Festival

September 2-3 - Canada’s Wonderland Food Truck Festival

September 8-10 - Supercrawl Hamilton

A classic. Dairy Cream, not to be mistaken with Dairy Queen, is a staple of anyone who lives in Mississauga. Just outside of Toronto on Lakeshore hides this little building that has been serving ice cream for over 50 years! As soon as you walk in you feel like you’re having a home cooking experience. They also make funnel cake: fresh and hot dough with cold amazing ice cream topped with strawberries and powdered sugar. In the summertime, the place is easy to find with its jammed parking lot and a line wrapped around the block! The best-of-the-best when it comes to classic ice cream, we’d say.

Location:

715 Lakeshore Rd. E. Mississauga

Honorary Mentions:

Booyah Inc.

Tom’s Dairy Freeze

Dutch Dreams
