Work It Wednesday - Daniel Reyes
Today we're sharing an fabulous Work It Wednesday with the one and only, Daniel Reyes!
1. First, tell us a bit about yourself. What inspired you to create #DoTheDaniel?
I was introduced to blogging via my husband Julio Reyes of FASHIONIGHTS.com. I started Do The Daniel because I felt our industry lacked a media outlet that was both entertaining and approachable - allowing people to do the things we do. When we first launched we wrote about food & wine, and shortly after expanded to more lifestyle content. Now with twelve staff around the world writing in three languages, we create content that I would want to read and follow along with on social media.
2. What do you think makes you stand out from others in your field?
We are a brand built on the strength and diversity of our team. It is because we are all so different that we can speak to so many people in a very authentic way. There are a lot of blogs and influencers out there, and I love them all. Our industry is thriving right now, and we set ourselves apart because we create partnerships with brands we love and the unique ways we integrate these stories into our everyday lives.
3. Word on the block is you have one of Canada's most successful blogs. What is one tip you would offer to new bloggers?
Don't try to be everything to everyone. Pick something you love and focus on that - success comes with time and dedication. When you do what you love, it shows in your work.
4. What is a key challenge you’ve faced in growing your business?
Treating it like a business - for a long time it was just me, and I had to learn to switch the way I see things to be more structured. Do The Daniel Inc. is now a thriving business, but every day there are new lessons to learn. We are always willing to adjust and grow with the industry as it changes.
5. Where do you see your business growing in the next three years?
Expanding into new cities and countries, since our ultimate goal is to have a voice in major cities around the world. But no one knows what the world of blogging and social media is going to look like, so I think being open to change is the most important thing for us.
6. Favourite quote and why?
"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right" - Henry Ford
This rings true every day because I think that we all can be our biggest fans or worst enemies. It's easy to get distracted in this world by menial things, so I try to stay positive and focus on what we do.
7. How do you #workit everyday?
We #WorkIt everyday by making sure that we have fun in everything we do. If we don't love it, we don't do it. It's just that simple!
That's all kids. Stay tuned for next week! - The Work It Social Team
